Where did we come from, where did we go..
Founded on some of the best European and African lines, Ocean's Chili-Pepper (Chili) moved to New Zealand with us in 2022. Living in Germany for a number of years, we were fortunate enough to spend Chili's 'puppyhood' travelling throughout Europe visiting wicked places and experiencing the best sites and activities on offer.
Travelling from the Alps to the sea with Chili gave us a huge appreciation of how versitile and adaptable Rhodesian Ridgebacks are. Everywhere we ventured people would stop and admire or comment about the places Chili could go, things she could do and how marvellous the breed is. Chili turned out to be an even better companion than we could have wished for in every respect, which led us to the contemplation of wanting to share this connection with others.
It has taken a huge amount of effort to get to the position of being able to be a guardian of this magnificent hound. We are stoked that we have the opportunity to share how amazing Ridgies are and at the same time positively impact the Rhodesian Ridgeback gene pool here in New Zealand.
The litter name of our foundation girl Chili-Pepper was Ocean's. Since we all love and live by the Ocean we decided to ride the wave and name our kennel Oceansridge.
Our dogs are health screened for genetic and physical faults before breeding - as all responsible breeders should. Puppy litters are carefully planned with the intention of improving and benefiting the longevitiy of the breed, adhering to Rhodesian Ridgeback breed standards.
